John M. and Susan Mattingly Barron

  • John Barron was born before 1775 (said age 26-45 on 1810 census). He immigrated circa 1803 to KY (was perhaps related to Hendley and Jesse Barron who came from Charles Co., MD to Prince Wm. Co., VA prior to 1800. This John Barron seems to have made a similar move before coming to Kentucky). He may have lived in Rowan Co., NC just prior to moving to KY. See Holcomb. 1981. Marr of Rowan Co., NC 1753-1868. p 106. which gives marriage of Solomon Beach Dickson to Hannah Allen 27 Jul 1804 with bond by Nathaniel Barron. This may have been the Nathaniel Barron from St. Mary's Co., MD, who may have been the same one who died in KY about 1815. Such a move would have been the normal way to proceed from VA to KY, e.g., south to the Carolinas and north through Tenn. and the Cumberland Gap on 27 Jul 1804. He appeared on the census of 1810 p 296 (stamped), Hardin Co., KY (Jno Barron, h/h 02010-01101). He appeared on the census of 1820 p 16, Hardin Co., KY (John Barron, 000101-0010 (age 45 and above)).
